Get to Know Me Tag (Writers’ Edition)

I couldn’t think of anything to write, but when I saw this I decided it would be fun, so here we go!
Blog post format.jpg

The rules:
  • link back to the person who created the tag (Savannah Grace)
  • thank the person who tagged you (I stole this from Abigayle over at The Left-Handed Typist)
  • tag eleven bloggers (Consider yourself tagged if you want to do this)

Vital Stats + Appearance

(pen)Name: I don’t have a pen name, I just use my real name: Hallie Jenkins

Nicknames: My family calls me Hal. No, you are not allowed to.

Birthday: November 22, 2002. It’s actually on Thanksgiving this year! That happens every so often.

Hair color and length: My hair is actually dark brown. It is currently a slightly strange bleached color. (Don’t ask, dye mishap) As for length, it’s shaved on the sides and there’s about an inch and a half on the top.

Eye color: Dark brown.

Braces/piercings/tattoos: I used to have braces, and I pierced my ears a few months ago. As for tattoos, none right now, but I will definitely get at least one in the future. I think it’d be cool to get a tattoo for each book I have written/will write.

Righty or lefty: I am a proud lefty!

Ethnicity: White American? I think I have Danish ancestry somewhere though.

First novel written: A very bad Star Wars Fan Novel. No, you may not read it, I have deleted all traces of it from the internet and we will never speak of it again.

First novel completed: See above.

Award for writing: None. That would be amazing, but as of right now I have never won anything.

First publication: That would be Night Night. Shameless self plug: you should go buy it on Amazon. It’s also on Kindle Unlimited, so if you have that, you can read it for free.

Conference: I attended WriteOnCon (an online KidLit conference) earlier this year, and it was so awesome! I’ll definitely be going again next year!

Query/Pitch: I haven’t actually queried anything yet, and the pitch I had for Raiders of the Hidden Cove really doesn’t describe it anymore.

Novel (that you wrote): Definitely the one I’m currently working on. (Raiders of the Hidden Cove)

Genre: Science Fiction. There’s just so many different things you can do with it.

Author: DON’T MAKE ME CHOOSE!!! *nervous hyperventilating* I think I’m going to go with Polly Holyoke. Her Neptune Trilogy inspired Raiders of the Hidden Cove.

Writing Music: Anything that fits the mood of the scene I’m writing. In fact, I have a whole blog post on Music and Writing.

Time To Write: First thing in the morning is when I have the best focus, but I’ll really take any time I can get.

Writing Snack/Drink: Anything I can eat with one hand, so I can type with the other one. And that’s not messy in any way.

Movie: The AvengersCaptain America: Civil War, and Return of the Jedi

Writing Memory: My favorite writing memory isn’t quite a memory, because I don’t remember when it was or where I was, but here we go. It was when I realized: I can actually do this. I can write this book. Not only that, people actually want me to write it, because they want to read it.

Childhood Book: The Boxcar Children! You’re going to see that title a lot on this blog, you should probably get used to it.

Reading: Just finished The Hollow Boy by Jonathan Stroud.

Writing:  Chapter 23 of Raiders of the Hidden Cove Book #1 AND a secret project for Wattpad you’ll find out about real soon.

Listening to: “High Hopes” and “Dying in LA” by Panic! at the Disco.

Watching: I’ve been watching The Goldbergs with my dad.

Learning: Nothing really, since school is out. I’ve been reading a lot though and learned recently that most traditionally published books are pretty bad, compared to all the indie published ones I’ve been reading. I don’t know if that counts or not.

Want To Be Published: I’ve already published once. (Night Night) I’ll definitely be publishing Raiders of the Hidden Cove, whether I’ll try for traditional or just go indie again, I haven’t decided.

Indie or Traditional: Both. I’d like to go hybrid.

Wildest Goal: To write a book that becomes the next big thing. Not like Harry Potter big, but one step down from that, if that makes sense. And a slightly smaller goal, I think it’d be cool to get recognized my someone who reads my books or my blog.

That’s gonna be it for this one! Thanks for reading! If you liked what you saw, take a look around! As always, don’t forget to like, comment, and/or subscribe, and I’ll see you soon!

  1. I tagged you for this in a post that’s going up tomorrow. XD One of the few downsides of writing posts ahead of time, lol.
Also, we’re the same age! I’m almost four months older, but we were born the same year. 🙂
